A Taiwanese artist has a ready answer for drivers who continue to use the phone while at the wheel. The man built a car using 25,000 cellphones. The project cost the artist US$30,000 to construct and took a number of years to create. He travelled worldwide while collecting old and discarded phones.

A Chinese woman won praise from her compatriots for guarding manholes without covers during recent flooding in the city of Jinjiang. The covers of the manholes had been moved out of place by the action of the flood waters, leaving a serious hazard. However despite the flood, the local woman stayed on hand to warn pedestrians, cyclists, motor cyclists and car drivers that the covers were missing. She placed umbrellas in some of the gaps as well as a warning notice in another.

A British man who managed to evade being caught for a number of driving offences over several years is now counting the cost. He had amassed a series of speeding offences in various high-end vehicles. In one incident he could be clearly seen in a speed camera image, making an obscene gesture at the camera. But each time the man was sent a letter informing him of an offence for which he would be prosecuted, he invented a fictitious name and personal details and claimed the person was living at one of the var

A driver in Belarus faced an unusual road hazard recently. The driver was passing through a rain-soaked village close to capital Minsk when a pedestrian suddenly stepped into the roadway and began a series of physical contortions. Luckily the driver had been travelling slowly due to the inclement weather conditions and was able to bring the vehicle to a rapid halt. A worker in the UK recently finished his shift, only to find that his car had been wrapped in clingfilm. The man had to spend several minutes cutting his car free before he could drive home and was decidedly unimpressed by the prank. It has yet to be revealed whether he has responded in kind with his own prank.

A man in New South Wales, Australia has set a record for a driving ban in his own country, and perhaps anywhere. Following a string of offences he has been disqualified from driving until 2094. Since his licence was first suspended he has been stopped while driving by police a total of 29 times in all. The 77-year-old man used a bus to attend his most recent court hearing, where he was given a three-month suspended jail sentence. Police in Germany were amused when they discovered the culprit in a series of mysterious speeding offences in a north German town. The town’s speed cameras had been triggered, but no cars were visible in the photos. However the mystery was solved when a parakeet was photographed clearly in one image, flying across the front of a speed camera and triggering the device. A vehicle passenger in Scotland has been videoed jumping out of a moving vehicle for a bet. He accepted the £20 bet from his friends and after a moment of deliberation, jumped from the vehicle as it drove past a graveyard. His head did hit the ground and he was then filmed sitting stunned but luckily uninjured by the stunt. His friends found this hilarious and paid him the money. It is not clear if he intends to repeat the prank. It seems unlikely however that he would be able to find work as a stuntman.

During an incident in Russia recently, a wheeled loader driver rammed the machine into a row of cars as well as a van, before the piece of equipment then ground to a halt. At this point one of the owners of the vehicles that had been damaged jumped up and began pummelling the wheeled loader driver. Other enraged vehicle owners quickly appeared and the wheeled loader driver stumbled out of the machine cab, to be further assaulted by those surrounding him.
