The Serbian Government is considering a loan from China’s Export-Import Bank, which would pay for the construction of the E-763 highway. The bank looks set to give its approval for the €223 million loan, which would pay for 90% of the construction work for the E-763, or Obrenovac-Ljig, highway. The Exim Bank credit line to Macedonia will be used to build a the highway connecting Skopje and Stip. The new route will also link Stip with pan-European transport corridor 10. A €150 million budget has been set aside by the Moldavian Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure for upgrades to 200km of the country’s major highway links. The funding is coming in the shape of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Transport infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from loans worth a total of €300 million. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are providing the loans, which will be used to improve and upgrade existing road links and also to update Moldova’s national railway company, CFM. The road improvements will be targeted at 290km of roads in the north and central areas of Moldova.

A series of challenges are now facing the project to construct Serbia’s key Corridor 10 highway. The EU has asked the Serbian Government for details of the priority plan and deadlines for the completion of the Corridor 10 highway. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has extended a US$196.5 million loan to Kazakhstan to fund the reconstruction of 62km of road from Shymkent to the Uzbekistan border. The project is part of the construction of the Western Europe - Western China transport corridor.

Bosnian motorways company Autoputevi RS claims that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has expressed readiness to approve a €350 million loan for the construction of the 46.6km long part of the Corridor Vc motorway, from Doboj to Vukosavlje.
