VITRONIC's LIDAR speed enforcement system PoliScanspeed has been granted official approval in Slovenia, where both staionary and mobile systems can now be used on high-speed roads, providing non-invasive speed nforcement on three lanes of traffic. Tailgating drivers, lane changes and overtaking vehicles can all be fully enforced. Together with partner company SG Biro, VITRONIC is continuing its expansion into the Eastern European market.

In its annual report for the year to 30 June 2011, the Western Australia police force has published figures that show a 58 per cent improvement in detecting vehicles exceeding the speed limit through the deployment of Vitronic's PoliScanSpeed.According to the report, 13.7 million vehicles were measured between July 2010 and June 2011. Of these 26.1 per cent were detected travelling in excess of the speed limit.

Vitronic Machine Vision Middle East and its Qatar partner Itqan Holding have announced an order for 26 PoliScan systems, 16 of which will be employed for speed enforcement, while ten will operate as combined solutions for speed and red light enforcement. German company Vitronic has been selected by Thales group to supply key components for all fixed enforcement gantries for the nationwide truck charging system to be implemented on 15,000 km of French roads. The multi-million euro contract is part of the prestigious Ecotaxe project, a distance-based tax for trucks. From mid-2013 onwards, all vehicles over 3.5 tons in weight will have to pay a tax on national roads with the fee being collected by means of an onboard GPS satellite system.

According to Dubai Police statistics for 2011, of more than 1.7 million traffic violations registered by the 323 speed enforcement systems in Dubai last year, the 27 PoliScanspeed systems from Vitronic that are deployed in the Emirate captured 565,148 violators, a third of all violations.

Machine vision specialist Vitronic and its Estonian partner Alarmtec have won a tender for ten stationary speed enforcement systems from the Estonian Road Administration, while in Dubai the company has announced it has been honoured by the Dubai Police as the best enforcement supplier of 2011.
