The Spanish Ministry of Development is considering nationalising the loss-making radial motorways in Madrid through state-owned company Seittsa. The plan would involve putting in place a toll-payment system to generate revenues to pay interests on debts and maintenance of the roads. The Ministry has already detected 600 locations where remote controlled payment systems could be installed in Madrid to charge those using the roads. Buenos Aires Province will release news of the winner of a highway concession shortly. The concession will be to operate highways 2, 11, 36, 63, 56 and 74 under a 30 year deal from May 2011.
Bidding has been strong for a highway repair contract in Argentina. In all eight contractors have submitted bids for repairs to Route 307 in the northwestern Argentina province of Tucuman.
