The Tender Board of Oman has floated, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, a prequalification tender for building Section 2 of the Daba-Lima-Khasab carriageway in the country's Musandam Governorate. Section 2 of the Design-Build-Operate (DBO) project involves a 65km stretch between Daba and Alkhalidya. Regular readers of this page may remember news of plans by Japanese toilet manufacturer TOTO to produce an eco-friendly three wheeled vehicle. This motortrike, with the snappy name Toilet Bike Neo, has now been unveiled to a waiting public. The multi-span reinforced concrete viaduct at Torano, about 100km east of the Italian capital Rome, is a major structure on the main E80/A24/A25 Autostrada crossing central Italy. Work on the Libyan section of the North African coastal highway now looks set to go ahead. Two consortia from Italy are to tender for the pre-qualifying stage of the US$3 billion project. The highway will run some 1,700km from Libya's border with Tunisia all the way to the border with Egypt. This is the final section in the new highway running all the way from Morocco in North West Africa to Egypt in the North East.
