Doosan’s new DX140LC-3 and DX160LC-3 crawler excavators

Both machines are powered by Doosan’s DL06K ‘common rail’ six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, said to meet Stage IIIB engine emission regulations through the use of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) after-treatment technologies. A car owner in China had something of a shock when he returned to his vehicle and found it covered in ice. The car had been parked underneath a bridge in Changchun, in the northern province of Jilin and the day had started sunny and warm, which resulted in a thaw.

The authorities in Brussels have proposed handing out biscuits to drivers who stick to speed limits. This novel ploy has been suggested in a bid to tempt drivers in the Belgian capital from speeding and reduce accident levels. While Belgium borders with the Netherlands, its road accident rate is significantly higher.

In the US state of Arizona a woman was arrested by police following an incident in which she ran over a restaurant worker. The woman ran over the waitress after attempting to flee without paying for her pancakes. Given that she was also guilty of a number of other crimes she will have to get used to prison food instead for a period.

The man was driving his children to school when his car broke down at a major junction and then refused to start. The man was concerned for the safety of his children and himself as numerous other vehicles manoeuvred around the stalled car.

School children competed in Malaysia with high speed model cars. The British team has built its vehicle from balsawood in a bid to win the speed challenge. The 25cm long rocket car is powered by compressed air and can travel up to 20m in 0.5 of a second.

The news that a key highway bridge has collapsed in the US comes as gloomy reading for all in the highway sector. When a section of the Interstate 5 Bridge over the Skagit River in Washington failed in May 2013, a number of vehicles were plunged into the river. Luckily no-one was killed in the incident on the route, which is one of the main links between the US and Canada, and the parallel bridge was able to carry traffic, albeit with delays for users.
