Malaysia reports drop in road fatality rate

Improving road safety is being seen in Malaysia. According to the Royal Malaysian Police, the number of fatalities from road crashes dropped to 4,940 during the first nine months of 2015 and ending on September 30th. The death rate for the same period in 2014 was 5,138. Road deaths involving motorcyclists reaching 3,098 across Malaysia during the nine month period. In yet another reversal for a key Algerian road project, the Algerian Government has overturned its earlier decision to cancel Cojaal’s contract. The Algerian Government opted to change its 2014 decision to cancel a contract with Japanese construction company Cojaal. The project is for Algeria’s massive East-West highway, for which Cojaal was working on an eastern stretch. Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is announcing tenders for the construction of a series of major routes. One key stretch is for a 41km section of the S14 dual carriageway, which will link the A2 highway with the S8 dual carriageway and which will constitute Lodz's western ring-road. According to declarations of the Polish Infrastructure and Development Ministry, work on the S14 project will commence in 2016.
Deer pose risk to Ohio drivers

The authorities in the US state of Ohio have highlighted the increased risk of crashes involving deer. This is due to a combination of factors including fewer daylight hours and the increased movement of deer due to mating season, along with the hunting season. The road identified as having the greatest risk in the state is State Route 64 in Lucas County between Reed Road and US Route 20 Airport Highway. This road suffered 19 crashes in 2014.
Réunion coast road project investigation

Cambodia’s roads show an increase in crashes. The country's National Road Safety Committee (NRSC) has announced official results showing that road related fatalities increased by 14% from 1,950 in 2013 to 2,226 in 2014. People aged from 15 - 39 accounted for 64% of the road crash casualties, while there were 4,645 recorded collisions.
