Volvo CE has announced it is moving production of its backhoe loaders and motor graders to its Chinese SDLG operation. The move is being made as part of a larger reorganisation, intended to boost overall profitability. Cost-saving measures are being implemented by Volvo CE to address the profitability of certain products. And the firm is opting to discontinue product development and production of backhoe loaders and motor graders in Europe and Americas and transfer these operations to its Chinese company

Latvia road design contract for capital Riga

A road design study is now being carried out for Latvian capital Riga. The study will evaluate solutions for connecting parts of the city and its port to the main Latvian highway network. The study will be part-funded by the EU’s TEN-T Programme, which is providing close to €1.8 million. The project will be completed by the 31st December 2015 and involves the construction of a new link to the Freeport of Riga that will carry heavy goods vehicles, reducing traffic volumes and congestion in the historic city

The Polish province of Lodzkie has signed a territorial contract that will allow construction of the Pyrzowice to Tuszyn section of the national A1 motorway. The firms Pöyry and Ramboll are to handle the design work for a project to upgrade a stretch of Highway No 6 in Finland.
