Oman is planning to build a new highway costing nearly US$390 million in the Musandam area. The highway will be 70km in length, linking Diba, Lima and Khasab.
Funding for the project is coming from the Oman Government. Construction of the highway is intended to boost tourism for the Musandam area.
Meanwhile, plans are in hand for a road widening project worth $306.5 million for Oman. The work will be handled by Galfar Engineering & Contracting. The project will take three years to complete and will see a 135km stretch of road being upgraded to dual carriageway status. A new interchange will be built as well as 241 concrete box culverts.
In addition, by Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has awarded two road contracts worth $234.3 million to Sarooj Construction Company. The largest of these package of works is for a 120km dual carriageway connecting Adam with Thunrait and costing $181. 9 million. Road works worth $52.4 million will be carried out in Jabal Shams for the second package of works.
