Perkins is introducing a new range of diesels that meet the coming EU Stage V emissions requirements. These have been designed to meet the much tougher emission control requirements. A study on behalf of the Department for Transport by the Transport Research Laboratory into the prevalence of illegal mobile phone use while driving has been released. The TRL has said that the data gives greater understanding of who is using mobile phones while driving and for what purpose, and how this can then be used to support future policy development. Technology from 3M is helping reduce the incidence of speeding in the UK city of Salford. A series of Driver Feedback Signs from 3M, DFS 700 units, have been installed in the area to gather both information on average vehicle speeds and encourage drivers to observe the speed limits.
