Contractor VAD now looks likely to carry out rebuilding work for the northern stretch of St Petersburg’s Ring Road. This section of the ring road runs between the Priozerskoye Highway and the Western High-Speed Diameter route. VAD’s bid for the 14.3km stretch has received approval from the tender commission. The work will cost just over US$100 million to be carried out and should be complete by November 2020.

A series of major bridge projects are underway in Russia, in the Krasnodar Region, Novosibirsk and the Surgut District. A new bridge being built in the Krasnodar Region is expected to be open to vehicle traffic at the end of 2018. Work on the bridge supports is being completed at present and work on the deck is now underway. The bridge will also carry rail traffic from the end of 2019. Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has cancelled the results of a tender for construction and maintenance of the fifth section of the central ring road in the Moscow. The FAS made the announcement following an investigation based on a complaint from Stroygazconsulting, one of Russia’s largest infrastructure construction companies. The 23-year contract was awarded to the Koltsevaya Magistral. Stroygazconsulting complained that the bids for the contract, worth nearly US$752 million, were not evaluate

Work is in hand for a new Formula 1 racetrack in Moscow. The facility will be built by Strategiya and will be located close to Volokolamsk. The facility will be designed to hold up to 100,000 spectators. Parking for 10,000 cars will be built although this could be increased if required. Contractor Avtoban will build the track itself while Stroytekh will construct buildings and structures and Siemens/PKE will equip the track with the necessary electronic. The project is costing some US$151 million.
