The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport’s Transport & Logistics Safety Forum is running a premier of a road safety film on the 31st March in the UK. The premier of the film, Our Vehicles, Our Safety, Our Responsibility: Improving Road Safety for Vulnerable Road Users, will be at a high-profile conference in Bedford. S&P highlights success of Californian managed lanes project

Standard & Poor (S&P) has given Orange County Transportation Agency’s (OCTA) SR91 link one of the highest ratings for managed highway lanes in the world. Motoring groups have criticised plans to launch Britain’s second toll motorway as part of a multi-billion euro road –building programme to kick-start the economy. AA in UK reports rise in number of claims for cars damaged by potholes

AA Insurance in the UK says the number of insurance claims from motorists who have damaged cars as a result of potholes has more than doubled over the last year. An estimated 1,000 cars have been seriously damaged by potholes over the past four weeks, according to the leading broker. Tyre damage was reported by all motorists who made a claim, while one in five of those making a claim also suffered damage to wheels. Motorists also reported damage to bodywork, steering and suspension.

UK Government considers charging for use of motorways

The UK Government is considering plans that could see motorists pay an annual fee of up to US$236.99 (£150) to use the country's motorways and trunk roads. The charges would be introduced as part of a move to reform vehicle excise duty, which currently raises $9.442 billion (£6bn) per year.
