Leica Geosystems says that its new DS4000 utility detection system can identify underground assets up to 60% deeper than conventional systems. By integrating IDS GeoRadar’s patented Equalised Scrambling Technology (EsT), it detects underground utilities clearly at both shallow and deeper levels. It can even reveal smaller objects, such as fibre optic cables.
Lightweight and portable, a single person can transport and operate the DS4000. The wheels can be swapped out, allowing a user to tackle flat surfaces and rough terrain. The antenna, which extends below the cart, is mounted on an automatic height-adjusting system that lowers it for detection and raises it to avoid obstacles, reducing the risk of damage.
The unit weighs 20kg and has a modular and compact design, a foldable handlebar for ease of use and storage and hot swap technology for the power supply that allows uninterrupted data acquisition.
The unit offers real time on-site marking and digitalisation of detected anomalies, optimal field performance with easy polarisation switch (HH and VV) and an easy detection workflow with the Quick Scan mode and on-site reports. The DS4000 has advanced software technology: uMap field software for fast data collection and easy management and IQMaps post-processing software for advanced analysis. The Quick Scan Mode saves time and reduces costs for field operations.
