Heidelberg Materials has resecured its highways contract in Bedford. The £30 million package with Bedford Borough Council will be for up to five years.

The new agreement starts this month following a competitive tender process and covers all aspects of highway maintenance and improvement across the borough including carriageway and footway resurfacing, drainage clearance, kerb and ironwork replacement and minor bridge repairs.

Heidelberg Materials has worked as the main highways contractor for the council since 2013, laying more than 250,000tonnes of asphalt and delivering a range of schemes across Bedford.

Working with its trusted local supply chain, the company will ensure the safe, sustainable and efficient delivery of all highways-related work including carriageway and footway resurfacing, drainage clearance, kerb and ironwork replacement and minor bridge repairs.
