A new bridge is planned to link Malaysia and Thailand, spanning the Golok River. The 116m reinforced concrete bridge would be built alongside the existing structure connecting the two nations.

Construction is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2025 and should take 36 months to complete. The project is intended to help boost trade and tourism between the two countries. Carrying two traffic lanes, the new bridge would carry traffic travelling from Malayia to Thailand. The existing bridge meanwhile would carry traffic from Thailand to Malaysia.

The project will be funded jointly by the Transport Ministries of the two countries. The work is expected to cost $12.3 million and will also include improvements to the existing bridge.

The Golok River forms part of the border between Malaysia and Thailand.
