The Hungarian Government has revealed plans for a new motorway linking Kszeg, Szombathely and Körmend. Work is due to commence in 2026. The 100km route linking Sopron with Lake Balaton is also to be upgraded so that it features two lanes in either direction and is expected to cost €511 million. The work is being planned by the Ministry of Construction and Transport.
Meanwhile, work is progressing on the construction of the bridge spanning the River Danube at Mohács. The 756m bridge will improve transport in South Hungary, as well as providing better connectivity to neighbouring Serbia and Croatia. The project also includes the construction of 30km of connecting roads.
