Four major roads in Cameroon will benefit from upgrading works worth US$167 million. The country’s Ministry of Public Works (Mintp) is providing the budget for maintenance works to a road around Lékié in the Centre Region and the road linking Mbalmayo with Sangmelima in the Centre-South Region. Mintp is also providing funding for maintenance to the road between Up Hill and Amour Mezam in the North-West Region and the road from Mora to Tchakamari in the Far North Region.

In addition, more than $85 million will also be spent on a further 10 road maintenance and upgrade projects across Cameroon. Further maintenance works are being carried out to 1,337km of dirt roads across Cameroon, costing $66.3 million and boosting connectivity to the country’s rural areas.

The works will boost the country’s transport sector with a similar benefit for economic development work. For the major routes, the work will also help reduce delays caused by flooding during the rain season.
