A budget worth $3.1 billion will tackle major road improvements for India’s traffic-choked capital, Delhi. Six key road projects will be carried out by t he National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), costing $2.75 billion.
The work will stretch a total of 128km. An additional 65km stretch for the Urban Extension Road II (UER-II) will provide a link between the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Noida via Ghaziabad and Faridabad. A 17km road section will link the NH344M with Tronica City on Delhi’s north side. A 5km tunnel will link Mahipalpur with Nelson Mandela Marg. A 20km elevated road will link AIIMS to Faridabad Road. A new interchange will be built at Kalindi Kunj, improving traffic flow between Delhi and Faridabad. A new expressway will link Katra and Amritsar with Delhi.
And Jammu & Kashmir will benefit from further viaduct and tunnel construction projects according to NHAI. Other key projects for Jammu & Kashmir include ring road development works for Srinagar and Jammu.
In Telangana State, a new bridge carrying two lanes of traffic in either direction will span the Mir Alam Tank. It will provided a connection for the Bengaluru National Highway to Chintalmet. The work will be carried out under an engineering procurement and construction package.
