A new link road will improve transport to and from Orlando Airport in Florida. Official approval has been awarded by the Central Florida Expressway Authority for the construction of the new road, which will measure 3.2km and will be tolled.

The link will ease congestion on East Lake Mary Boulevard by providing additional capacity and will run between SR 417 and Orlando Sanford International Airport. The airport is amongst the busiest in the US, with Orlando featuring very high tourist numbers visiting attractions in the area. Road traffic to and from the facility is busy as a result, particularly during holiday periods.

The road will have a full width of 45m but the alignment will allow for future expansion with additional lanes if required in the future. The route selected is expected to have the least impact on the surrounding neighbourhood while helping boost the economy in the area. The project will have a major effect on reducing congestion in the area around the airport, which often results in extensive traffic delays at peak periods.
