Topcon is now introducing two advanced new systems offering connected construction solutions for contractors. These are the sophisticated Aptix platform and the CR-P1 high-speed 3D laser scanner. Both technologies have been proven at Topcon’s research and development facilities in California and in Italy.

The Aptix system is said to be a powerful integration platform that connects data, automates workflows and streamlines construction processes from office to site.

This tool has been purpose-built for use on infrastructure projects. It allows decisions to be made in real-time by linking schedules, models, telematics and task data into a cloud-based environment.

With app and data connections, Aptix boosts interoperability between commonly used systems while streamlining workflows. The platform automates processes such as file conversions, schedule updates and model changes which boosts efficiency and minimises delays.

Project managers benefit from visibility into actual versus planned performance through intuitive dashboards accessible from a PC, tablet or smartphone. These centralised views help teams identify challenges early, reduce risk exposure and make informed data-driven decisions while keeping stakeholders updated with the latest information from across the project.

Aptix also supports sustainability by tracking CO₂ emissions across mixed equipment fleets using Topcon’s Tierra Blend+telematics. Users can pinpoint which machines, tasks or operators contribute most to emissions thereby helping align machine performance with business sustainability goals.

From document control to machine telematics and task management, Aptix unifies all aspects of a construction project. Its asset tracking tools allow operators to monitor mixed fleets in real time, reporting fuel burn, machine usage and task status, while ensuring schedule and model changes are distributed automatically.

Meanwhile, the firm’s new CR-P1 high-speed 3D laser scanner has been designed in collaboration with FARO Technologies. This tool is aimed at professionals requiring speed and accuracy for measuring highways, bridges, tunnels and complex urban settings.

The scanner is available in two models – the CR-P1 100 (100m range) and CR-P1 200 (200m range). These units capture dense point clouds with two million points/second, even in challenging environments.

Because it delivers 2mm 3D accuracy and 1mm distance accuracy, the CR-P1 is ideal for utilities and subsurface mapping, civil engineering and site verification, 3D data capture of built and natural environments and construction verification.

Real-time scan registration and immediate data processing using Collage Site software by Topcon allow users to view, register and share point clouds on site. This eliminates the need for third-party contractors and accelerates decision making with real-time access to data. This data can also be shared with stakeholders via Collage Web.

Users can also pair the CR-P1 with the GTL-1200 for in-depth site verification. This integrated approach brings together combined sensor data in a unified software platform for streamlining workflows and improving project efficiency.

Whether capturing complex infrastructure or verifying progress, the CR-P1 brings precision, speed and simplicity to digital construction.
